In fact，people have different opinions about reading. Some hold the view that we should read selectively while others think that we should read extensively. Those who hold the first opinion think that one’s time and energy are limited and one can never read as many books as he wishes. However，those who hold the second view think that to know the world from all perspectives one should absorb adequate knowledge by reading extensively.
Personally，I’m in favor of the former opinion. Admittedly，we can absorb knowledge by reading extensively，but it doesn’t follow that we should read without discrimination. Since our time and energy are limited，we should devote them to reading relevant and beneficial books. It’s a waste of time reading irrelevant books. Furthermore，some books are harmful. If we don’t read selectively，we’ll be misled by harmful books.
